MSU Denver Enhances Hands-On Media Education with QuickLink StudioPro™

Customer Story

DENVER, JULY 22, 2026 – Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) has taken a significant step toward modernizing its media production and journalism training by purchasing QuickLink StudioPro™ to be used in its on‑campus television studios. The upgrade marks a major investment in hands‑on, industry‑aligned learning for students pursuing careers in broadcast, digital media and live production.

The StudioPro solution, purchased through the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) and operated by MSU Denver’s Department of Journalism and Media Production, will bring streamlined, professional‑grade production workflows to students and faculty. While the university has been gradually rolling out the technology, early feedback from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.

What we are finding is that the students like using the system. There are many, many benefits to it. We’re very excited to really start pushing the system. There’s a lot of potential here for our students.

Kinney, who has worked in radio, television, and live production since 1987, has been instrumental in transitioning the university’s studios to the new platform. He notes that StudioPro’s flexibility is especially valuable as MSU Denver trains students across a wide range of production roles.

One of the benefits of QuickLink is how easy it is to recall different production setups. We can have one project configured for a full multi‑position crew and another designed for a single operator, then switch between them quickly depending on what we need.

This dual‑approach, he explains, allows the department to maintain traditional production training while also embracing modern, streamlined workflows.

While the system was installed last summer, MSU Denver plans to significantly expand its use in the coming academic year. Kinney will be teaching the university’s introductory TV production course starting in August, where StudioPro will be integrated from day one. The department also anticipates increased use from Met Media, the university’s student‑run media organization, which produces news and entertainment programming for the campus community.

As MSU Denver prepares for broader implementation of StudioPro, the university sees the technology as a key component in preparing students for careers in a rapidly evolving media landscape. The system’s adaptability, ease of use and professional‑grade capabilities position it as a cornerstone of the department’s long‑term vision.
